About Jyrgalan

Jyrgalan is a mountain village at about 2,250 m, built in the Soviet era for coal mining, 60 km east of Karakol in the Issyk-Kul region. It has become a base for backcountry skiing and snowboarding.

There is no ski lift: skiers are carried by snowcat and snowmobile, or skin up on touring skis. Guesthouses in the village provide accommodation.
